Frozen Chocolate

barkeater Blog, Cool

This is our second installment of Barkeater Team Stories. Thanks to Melinda (and her Dad) for this fun memory.

Chocolate.

When I think about chocolate I go back to when I was a little girl. You see, my dad is what I’d call a hard core chocoholic. He always had chocolate in the house. In particular, the freezer. Some may find that strange, putting chocolate in the freezer, but that was the norm in our house. He usually kept a bag of kisses hidden in there, which I loved. Not only because I loved to eat kisses but because they were so easy to sneak! Of course he’d have shared but where’s the fun in that? Besides, this way I could get more chocolate without him noticing. Or so I thought. Looking back now, having kids of my own, I have to laugh because there is just no way I was fooling him. Unless maybe he thought it was my mom or siblings. To be honest I think we all did it. Which only further proves my point, there is just no way he didn’t notice.

Chocolate is such a favorite of my dad’s that he even came up with a new house rule. This didn’t start until we were a little older and had chocolate of our own to stash in the freezer. He called this the 24 hour rule. He said if chocolate is in the freezer for more than 24 hours it is fair game. I guess that’s what we get for all of those years “sneaking” his. Needless to say I learned very quickly that freezing it wasn’t worth losing it. After all, chocolate is a priority.
