Public Chocolate Making Experience

$40.00

Barkeater Experiences are back for limited dates in Spring 2023.

To book: Select the date and then add the number of people in your group under quantity. This session is open to individuals and groups; this is NOT a private session.

This Experience goes for up to 90 minutes and starts with a bit of the chocolate back story…where do cacao beans come from? What exactly is bloom? Why can’t I stop raiding my kid’s Halloween bag (additional fees for therapy apply)? Then off to the Experience Room where you’ll make your own chocolate treats. There will plenty of sweets to go around – you might even learn a thing or two.

Price of admission includes a 10% discount in our Factory Store immediately after/during the session.

Requirements: Closed toe shoes, long hair tied back, and comfortable shoes.

Space is limited – this must be reserved and purchased ahead of time. No walk-ins will be accommodated. If we do not meet our minimum attendance, we will cancel and refund your money. If we reach our maximum attendance, we will close the session off to new attendees.

PLEASE READ, FAQ:

Q: Can I just stop by the shop and walk into an experience you already have scheduled?

A: No. All experiences are pre-booked and pre-paid. Unless you scheduled through a third party (such as SUNY ADK, summer camps, bus tours, etc.), the price is as stated on our site.

Q: Why are you so strict about that?

A: Space, staffing, preparation. Our Experience Room can only seat 8 people, and we schedule staff needed for booked experience days. In addition, all of our experiences have an element of chocolate making. We prepare the correct amount of chocolate and have it tempered for your arrival. This experience leaves no room for winging it.

Q: What if I don’t see the date I want?

A: Please give us a call at 518-251-4438 to see if we have availability. Sometimes we have a cancellation or will make an exception if we have the staffing to accommodate your group.

Q: I have a 2 year old with me, do I have to pay for her?

A: If your 2 year old cherub will not be participating in the chocolate making, then you will not be charged for her.

Q: You know, I’ve been to other chocolate companies and their tours are free, why do you charge?

A: This is not a tour. It’s an educational session, or a haunted session, with time for you to make your own chocolate creations. If you don’t have the time or want to pay for an experience, we invite you to check out our small Exhibit Room and look at our educational plaques and video.

Q: You say to wear comfortable shoes, so I take it we’re going to walk a lot?

A: No. This is not a guided walking tour; we are a small family run business in a small building. You will be standing, but your FitBit won’t be logging any serious mileage.

Q: Hold on, you mean we won’t be allowed to go into your offices, attics, storage rooms or interrupt your chocolate production?

A: No. Also, you won’t be able to do that at any other factory tour at any other company we’ve ever heard about either.

Q: OK, but how about wheelchair accessibility?

A: We can accommodate most standard wheelchairs. Please make us aware ahead of time so we can arrange our chocolate making room to make it as comfortable as possible.

Q: What if I have to cancel?

A: We understand things happen. Please give us at least 24 hours notice and we’ll refund your money or reschedule your session. However, no-shows will not be given a refund.

Q: My session begins at 1:00, when should we arrive?

A: Five minutes before your session is all that is required. Arriving 30 minutes early won’t get you in any earlier, and arriving 30 minutes late means we are going to rush your experience to ensure the next experience can start on time. Otherwise, we’ll cancel your reservation.

Q: I feel like you didn’t cover every possible scenario here…what if I have more questions?

A: Please call us at 518-251-4438.
